Balinese Cuisine – Breakfast Time

Balinese Cuisine – Breakfast Time

📍 The Owl, Sanur, Bali

For first breakfast outside of ‘Taksu Sanur Hotel’, I’ve chosen cafe ‘The OWL’. A little, rustic coffee shop, offering local foods, from breakfast to dinner. That’s where I tried my first smoothie bowl ever. And it was very delicious. At this time I definitely felt in love with dragon fruits – it was love on the first sight – this deep purple color – just wow! For dinner I went to visit ‘Pasar Sindh’ or ‘Sindhu night market’ just around the corner. It supposed to be an insider tip for foodies. And it’s definitely a visit worth, if you’re looking for cheap and authentic local food. I can highly recommend a visit, if you’re at Sanur. Sure, in comparison to Thailand’s huge night markets, it’s quite small, but it’s very tasty and cheap.

For sure, you’ll find here the typical ‘Nasi Goreng’, ‘Bami Goreng’ or spring rolls as well, but also delicious soups and deserts and partly some strange food, you never heard or seen before. Just try! It’s like a culinary adventure – but that’s the interesting thing about! I tried a desert called ‘Dadar Gulung’, it’s kind of rolled pancakes filled with coconut mass. By far – the most famous dessert at Indonesia is ‘Pisang Goreng’ – it’s fried bananas! Simply delicious and always a good idea. At Indonesia you can also find a popular fruit, which is called ‘Durian’ or ‘stinky fruit’. As the name suggests, this fruit is known for its pretty intense unpleasant smell and some describe the taste as onion-flavored.
